Unboxing & setup

Packing it back up

How long does setup take?

About a minute. Hold the pump to the valves and it inflates both the mattress and the Starlight Canopy in under a minute. Nothing to attach, no hoses to wrestle with.

Can my kid set it up?

Yes, with a grown-up supervising. It's simple enough for kids to do on their own, and most of them want to. Stay close by, especially for the first few setups.

How do I charge the pump and the lights?

Both charge with the USB-C cable in the pump bag. Plug it into a wall adapter or a portable battery pack.

  • Pump: one charge covers four to five setups or more.
  • Lights: leave the light controller in its pocket while it charges. It's designed to stay there. One charge lasts for weeks in night-light mode.
  • Forgot to charge? If there's an outlet nearby, the lights will run while they're plugged in.
How do the lights work?

Tap the star on the canopy to change modes:

  1. One tap: Night-light. A low, warm glow that stays on for 12 hours.
  2. Two taps: Reading. A brighter warm light for stories. After 15 minutes it fades down to the night-light.
  3. Three taps: Wind-down. For five minutes the light slowly rises and falls in a square-breathing rhythm (breathe in as it brightens, hold, breathe out as it dims, hold) to help kids settle. Then it fades to dark and reveals the glowing stars.
  4. Four taps: Off.

Reading and wind-down modes also charge the glow-in-the-dark starry night sky on the canopy ceiling, so it glows for hours after the lights go out. Once a mode has been on for more than a minute, the next tap turns the lights off. No cycling through every mode at bedtime.

What's the difference between the power switch and tapping the star?

Tapping the star changes modes. The power switch on the light controller turns everything fully off. Switch it off when you pack up, check the bag, or store the bed so the lights can't come on by accident or drain the battery.

How do I pack it back up?

No pump needed.

  1. Switch the light controller's power off.
  2. Open the valves.
  3. Starting at the foot, roll the whole bed toward the head, canopy and all. The air pushes out as you roll.
  4. Slide it into the carry bag.
Can I bring it on a plane?

We recommend checking it. The bag is a little over the carry-on limit for some airlines, but it's smaller and lighter than a pack-n-play. Turn off the light controller's power switch before you check it.

Can it stay set up? How should I store it?

It can stay inflated as long as you like. Before you pack it away for a longer stretch, spot clean the canopy and machine wash the mattress cover and the Adventure Blanket. Let everything dry completely, switch off the light controller's power, then pack it up.

Keeping it fresh

Care

How to wash the cover and blanket, spot clean the canopy, and deal with spills and stains. Can't find your situation? Ask us.

What can go in the washing machine?

The mattress cover and the Adventure Blanket. Zip the cover closed, wash both on a delicate cycle in cold water, and tumble dry on low. Everything else is spot clean or hand wash only.

How do I take the bed apart to wash the cover?
  1. Open the valves and roll the bed to let the air out.
  2. Unhook the valve from the fabric opening in the canopy, then lift the mattress up off the canopy. It's held in place with hook-and-loop strips.
  3. Unzip the cover and slide out the inflatable core with the foam layer still attached.

You usually don't need to separate the foam layer from the inflatable core. If you want to wash the foam, peel it off at the four hook-and-loop points.

How do I put it back together?
  1. If you took the foam layer off, reattach it to the inflatable core at the four hook-and-loop points.
  2. Add a little air to the inflatable core. It's much easier to slide into the cover partly inflated.
  3. Slide the inflatable core and foam into the cover the way you'd put a comforter into a duvet cover, valve end first toward the zipper.
  4. Slot the valve through the fabric opening in the cover, then zip it closed.
  5. Press the mattress back down onto the canopy, hook the valve through the canopy's fabric opening, and inflate.
How do I clean the foam layer?

Hand wash it in warm water with a mild soap like Dawn. Never put it in the washing machine. Let it air-dry completely before you put it back in the cover.

What about spills and accidents?

Get the cover off as soon as you can. The foam layer has a water-resistant top that keeps spills and accidents out of the foam. Blot (don't rub) anything on the top of the foam with a dry cloth, then wash the cover. If anything got through, hand wash the foam and let it air-dry completely.

How do I clean the canopy?

Spot clean it. The canopy fabric resists stains, so most marks lift easily. Blot, don't rub, and always test a cleaner on a hidden spot first. Never machine wash the canopy.

What works on specific stains?
  • Juice, fruit, chocolate, syrup, ketchup and other food: Dawn diluted in warm water, OxiClean Max Force, Folex or Woolite
  • Crayon, pen, and marker (yes, even Sharpie): Amodex or rubbing alcohol
  • Dry-erase marker: rubbing alcohol
  • Stickers and glue: rubbing alcohol
  • Mud: let it dry, brush off what you can, then treat what's left with diluted Dawn
Can the inflatable core get wet?

The inflatable core is PVC-free TPU and won't absorb water. Wipe it down and let it dry before you pack it.

What should I avoid?

Bleach, high heat, and machine washing anything other than the cover and blanket. And never pack the bed, or put the cover back on, while anything is still damp.

The details

Product Info

Dimensions, materials, and how the bed is built. Curious about something that isn't here? Ask us.

How big is it?
  • Sleep surface: 63" L × 26" W × 5" H
  • Canopy height: 24"
  • Packed: 28" × 10" × 10", about 15 lb
  • Fits kids 3+, up to about 5 feet tall
What is it made of?
  • Inflatable core: PVC-free TPU dropstitch, leak- and puncture-resistant
  • Comfort layers: memory foam under a quilted top with Sorona® plant-based fill
  • Canopy: stain-resistant polyester with breathable mesh windows
  • Base and travel bag: heavy-duty 1200D polyester
Will it stay inflated all night?

Yes. Thousands of fine threads connect the top and bottom of the dropstitch core, so it inflates flat and firm and holds its shape night after night. No topping up, and no waking up on the floor at 2 a.m.

Is it safety tested?

Yes. It's third-party tested to meet U.S. CPSC children's product safety standards and is REACH compliant, the EU standard for chemical safety in materials.

Will my kid get too warm inside the canopy?

The canopy covers about half the bed. A vent at the top rear, mesh windows and an open-able front curtain keep air moving, so it feels cozy, not closed in.

Do I need sheets or a pillow?

No sheets needed. The quilted sleep surface and the Adventure Blanket are the bedding, and both go in the wash. There's no pillow, on purpose: most kids don't need one, and it leaves room for them to bring their favorite.

What else does the Adventure Blanket do?

It snaps to the bed so it stays put all night. In the morning, connect the snaps to each other and it becomes a cape. We call it Wizard Mode.

Can parts be replaced?

Yes. The inflatable core, foam layer, mattress wrap, canopy cover, lighting and pump can all be replaced, and we have patch kits for the core just in case. Send us a message and we'll sort it out.

Getting it to you

Shipping

Where your bed ships from, how long it takes, and how you'll know it's on the way. Already ordered and have a question? Ask about your order.

How much is shipping?

Nothing, within the contiguous U.S. Free shipping is included with every Starhaven Bed, a $25+ value. Orders to Alaska and Hawaii may have an extra shipping fee, shown at checkout.

Where does it ship from?

Our warehouse in Traverse City, Michigan.

How long will it take to arrive?

Orders usually leave our warehouse within 24 hours, then arrive in 3 to 7 days.

How will I know it's on the way?

We'll email you a tracking number as soon as your bed ships.

Do you ship internationally?

Not yet. We ship anywhere in the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii.

Our promise

Returns & Warranty

What's your return policy?

You can return your Starhaven Bed within 30 days of delivery if it's unopened, unused, and still in its original factory-sealed packaging. Send us a return request and we'll send a prepaid label and instructions. A $50 fee covering return shipping and restocking comes out of your refund. Returns from Alaska or Hawaii may cost more. Packages sent back without a return request can't be accepted.

Can I return a bed that's been opened?

No. Because kids sleep in it, opened beds can't be returned for health, safety, and hygiene reasons. If your bed has a defect in materials or workmanship, it's covered by our one-year warranty, and most parts can be replaced if something wears out.

When will I get my refund?

Once your return reaches us, we'll inspect it within 3 to 5 business days. After it's approved, your refund goes back to your original payment method within 10 business days.

What does the warranty cover?

Every Starhaven Bed comes with a one-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, from the date of purchase. It covers the original purchaser with proof of purchase. If something's defective, we'll repair or replace it, or refund the purchase price, and we'll cover reasonable return shipping for approved claims. Start a warranty claim and have your order number handy.

What isn't covered?

Normal wear and tear, stains, accidental damage, misuse, improper setup, transport or storage, and unauthorized repairs or modifications. Even then, most parts can be replaced, so a worn piece rarely means a new bed.

Peace of mind

Use & Safety

Ages, where to set it up, and how the lights and battery work. Have a question about your own setup? Ask us.

What ages is it for?

The Starhaven Bed is designed for kids 3 and up, up to about 5 feet tall.

Can grown-ups use it too?

It's made for kids, and strong enough for a parent to sit, read, or snuggle in at bedtime.

Where can I set it up?

On any flat floor: bedrooms, hotel rooms, guest rooms, or a tent. Keep it away from heaters, fireplaces, and open flames, and don't set it on top of another bed or a bunk.

Is the lighting safe for kids?

Yes. The lights are low and warm. In reading and wind-down modes, a small UV light charges the glow-in-the-dark stars for a few minutes, then turns off on its own.

Is the battery safe?

Charge it with the included USB-C cable, leave the light controller in its pocket, and switch the power off when you pack, travel, or store the bed.
